About

Dr. Abdulnabi holds an MEng. in Geotechnical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Geoenvironmental Engineering both from the University of Alberta. She specializes in tailings and mine waste management. Ahlam’s areas of practice and research interest include tailings dewatering and geotechnical behaviour; soil cover systems design and assessment; long-term closure of tailings and waste rock; permafrost and cold regions engineering, sustainable development; acid rock drainage remediation and mitigation; mine closure & reclamation; tailings dam design. Her expertise also include the geotechnical and geochemical characterization of waste rock and various types of base, precious metal and oil sands tailings.
