Health Economics Innovative Clinical Trials in Emergency Medicine Infectious Disease Modelling Pharmaceutical Reimbursement
Dr. McCabe brings 30 years of experience as a health economist to his role in the Department. He trained and worked in the UK for 20 years before emigrating to Canada in 2011. During this time he held Full Professorships at the Universities of Sheffield, Warwick and Leeds. He is a Professor of Health Economics at the University of Alberta, where he was appointed Capital Health Endowed Research Chair at the University of Alberta. Dr. McCabe is currently on secondment for the University of Alberta as Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of the Institute of Health Economics (www.ihe.ca).
Dr. McCabe has taught health economics at the undergraduate and graduate level in both the UK and Canada, and has supervised PhD students to completion in both systems. He is co-author of a successful textbook on Cost Effectiveness Modelling for Health Technology Assessment (https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-319-15744-3). He provides guest lectures to both undergraduate and graduate medical education courses at the University of Alberta.
