The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Family Medicine, invites applications from family physicians interested in influencing the education of the next generation of family physicians.

The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, has been internationally recognized among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health education institutions.

Successful candidates will join a growing complement of academic family physicians that, in addition to their scholarly and research activities, provide classroom and office-based teaching as well as clinical sessions that model interdisciplinary team practice. Clinical practice will occur in a community family medicine clinic supported by department resources.

This position will also support our Patients, Experience, Evidence, and Research (PEER) group which entails evidence-based medicine, guideline development and evaluation, critical appraisal, and pragmatic clinical trials. PEER is an important and internationally high-profile component of the department’s academic mission.

This position is a full-time, contingent, tenure-track faculty position. The academic salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, and will be supplemented with compensation for protected teaching, research, and program administration time from the Alberta Academic Medicine and Health Services Program. Qualifications:

  • Certification by the College of Family Physicians of Canada or equivalent is required.
  • Applications must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
  • Applicants with advanced degrees awarded or in progress are strongly preferred.
