The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology in partnership with Alberta Health Services, invites applications for a Clinical AMHSP position to be based at the University of Alberta.  Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions.  The University is currently home to more than 38,000 students with more than 15,000 faculty and staff. 

The successful candidate will join a group of 14 endocrinologists in a tertiary care facility, with an additional 12 community endocrinologists in the Edmonton Zone, which serves over 1.5 million people, including the world’s largest pancreatic islet transplant program.  The Division has excellent clinical facilities; a Royal College approved resident training program and easy access to dynamic testing and the full range of diagnostic and therapeutic services.

The successful candidate will have an MD degree or equivalent and a minimum of 7.5 years of independent practice due to the leadership role associated with this position.  The successful candidate will be eligible or currently certified in Endocrinology with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada, and will be eligible or currently licensed with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA)

Key accountabilities of the AMHSP position will include, but will not be limited to, administrative work of Assistant Program Director initially, transitioning to Program Director for the Endocrinology Residency Program in 2025. There are on-call expectations for the Endocrinology service and the position will include clinical service, clinical teaching, and classroom teaching and 10% protected research time. There will be an expectation of a weekly Diabetes/Insulin pump ambulatory multidisciplinary clinic within the Kaye Edmonton Clinic and general endocrine ambulatory clinics. There is also a requirement for expertise in clinical pituitary  management and a willingness to participate in Pituitary subspecialty clinics at the KEC.

The successful candidate will be expected to apply for a Clinical Academic Colleague Appointment in the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Alberta, which will be considered under a separate process.

Remuneration for this position is based on the Academic Alternative Relationship Plan (AMHSP). Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
