About

Dr. Ali Abedini is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta. He currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer at Interface Fluidics Ltd. With over 15 years of combined academic and industry experience in energy and technology development, he leads corporate strategic planning and oversees all aspects of technical execution, operational strategy, project management, product research and development, and commercialization.

Dr. Abedini holds a B.Sc. in Reservoir Engineering, an M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Petroleum Systems Engineering. He actively contributes to the scientific community as a technical reviewer, editorial board member, and committee member for several peer-reviewed journals, funding agencies, conferences, and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). His contributions have been recognized through numerous awards, including the SPE Regional Completions Optimization and Technology Award, the ASTech Outstanding Science and Technology Start-Up Award, the NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship, the Saskatchewan Innovation and Opportunity Award, and the University Dean’s Scholarship. Dr. Abedini is a registered Professional Engineer in both Alberta and Ontario.
