About

Abraam received his medical degree from the University of Alberta in 2010 and completed hist postgraduate training in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases at the U of A. He also holds a Masters degree in Global Health Policy from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

He currently practices as an Infectious Diseases consultant the Misericordia Community Hospital, where he is the divisional site lead, as well as the Royal Alexandra Hospital. He maintains an HIV practice through the Northern Alberta Program at the Royal Alexandra site. Abraam also serves as the communicable disease consultant to the Occupational Health and Safety Department at Covenant Health, working closely with the leadership team to oversee workplace and employee health at 18 acute and continuing care facilities throughout the province.

Abraam has a strong interest in global health and development, as well as emerging infectious diseases. He is the co-founder and co-executive director of Innovative Canadians for Change (ICChange), a global health non-profit organization based in Edmonton focusing on developing sustainable and scalable solutions to issues that affect the security and well-being of vulnerable populations. As part of this initiative, he has traveled extensively and overseen the launch and development of various programs in East Africa, Southeast Asia and beyond.

Teaching

Abraam teaches medical students and residents through direct patient are on clinical ID rotations at the Misericordia and Royal Alexandra Hospitals.
