About

Ahmed Al Marouf, PhD, is currently a Machine Learning and Reinforcement Learning Scientist - Postdoctoral Scholar at the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, University of Alberta. He is affiliated with the Rehabilitation Robotics Lab (RRL), Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine; and AI + Health Hub of the College of Health Sciences of the University of Alberta, Edmonton, AB, Canada. He completed his Ph.D. working towards developing applied AI methods and frameworks including, Fairness-aware & Interpretable Machine Learning and Deep Learning algorithms to address critical biomarkers in various cancer types. He worked in the Data and Network Sciences & Applications (DANSA) lab. He received multiple awards and scholarships, including Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship (AGES), Open Doctoral Scholarship, University of Calgary Board of Governors Research Award etc. He got more than six years of teaching experience at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Daffodil International University (DIU), Dhaka, Bangladesh, where he acted as the Technical Lead of the Multidisciplinary Action Research (MARS) Lab. He published more than forty-five (50) research articles in international conferences and journals including several Q1 and Q2 journals. His research interest lies in AI in Healthcare, Health Informatics, Learning Health Systems, AI for Public Health, Machine Learning, Human-AI Interaction.
