Overview
About
I am a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Economics at the University of Alberta. I have an Honours BA from McGill University and a Master's and PhD from Queen's University in Kingston. My previous appointments include Economist at the Bank of Canada; Visiting Fellow at the School of Economics and at the Research School of Social Sciences at the Australian National University, Canberra, Australia; and Visiting Fellow at the School of Economics and Finance, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.
Research
My research interests include pension plan sustainability, the benefits of fiscal rules, and the effectiveness of natural resource stabilization funds. The SSHRC Initiative on the New Economy program helped fund my work on the impact of the exchange rate on imports, productivity and investment.
