About

Tina is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Alberta. She has worked as a Family Physician for the past 15 years, primarily in Edmonton at the Northeast Community Health Centre. Tina is the director of the evidence based medicine (EBM) knowledge translation group known as PEER, and is actively involved in the development of Tools for Practice, Tools for shared informed decision making (ie online calculators and infographics), as well as Simplified Primary Care Guidelines.  She is a frequent speaker at provincial and national conferences,  provincial roadshows, and participates in a provincial academic detailing program developed by PEER which utilizes a train the trainer approach to disseminate reliable best evidence to busy clinicians. 

She is also involved in graduate and undergraduate medical education at the University of Alberta and is the co-director of the EBM program for Family Medicine residency. 

Tina is proud to be a part of the core leadership team for Pragmatic Trials, a group of practicing primary care providers searching to improve the care of patients and answer pivotal healthcare questions through high quality evidence (ie pragmatic randomized controlled trials).  Her research interests include practical questions relating to the improvement of primary care.  She is also a member of the Canadian Task Force on Preventative Healthcare and participates in guideline development regarding screening and prevention maneuvers.

Tina is married with four fantastic kids and enjoys most things outdoors.
