Dr Buttenschoen studied medicine in Germany. During her training and daily work in Anaesthesia she became interested in palliative medicine and started to get further education in this discipline. She moved to Canada with her family and did a clinical fellowship in Palliative Medicine in Edmonton in 2010. To gain further experience she added training in pain medicine. Since 2013 she works as a consultant for the Edmonton Zone Palliative Care Program, Community Consult Team.

Teaching

Dr. Buttenschoen presently teaches Pain and Symptom Management: Brain Metastases and Seizures and Non-Malignant End of Life: End Stage Neurological in the Seminar Series to the Palliative Medicine Residents.
