About

Dat Chin is a Professor in the Division of Critical Care Medicine, University of Alberta.

He graduated from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, and trained in Internal Medicine in Johannesburg, and Respiratory Medicine and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Western Ontario, London.

Dr. Chin is a critical care physician with clinical duties in the E. Garner King Critical Care Unit, University Hospital, and the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute. He was the Critical Care Medicine Residency Training Program Director (1995-2005), and the Medical Director of the E. Garner King Critical Care Unit (1994-2008).

In 2011, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada recognized him as a "Founder Member of Critical Care Medicine" for his service and contributions on the inaugural Critical Care Medicine Examination Board and the Critical Care Medicine Specialty Committee.
