After completing a B.Econ (Hons) and M.Econ at Monash University in Australia, I moved to Canada and completed a PhD in economics at the University of British Columbia. Since completing that degree in 1983, until my retirement in 2014, I have been with the Department of Economics at the University of Alberta, as an Assistant, Associate, and finally Full Professor. I have also held visiting positions at various times at the Australian National University, the University of Melbourne, and the University of Sydney. From 2002-2012, I was also Director of the Canadian Building Energy End-Use Data and Analysis Centre (CBEEDAC), located in the Economics Department at the University of Alberta.
