About

Occupational Medicine is the branch of medicine that helps workers find the appropriate support to go back to work (fitness for duty, accommodations, restrictions, limitations…) and that helps patients in finding whether their health problems are related to their previous jobs (work-relatedness). There are very few Occupational Medicine Specialists in Canada, not enough to cover the population and societal needs related to the ill-health effects of work. I am proud to help expand the workforce in this area, as the program director for the UofA subspecialty residency training program, the very first one created in Canada in 1989.

Quentin Durand-Moreau is an Assistant Professor in the division of Preventive Medicine and director of Post-Graduate Occupational Medicine programs (Subspecialty residency, Enhanced Skills, and Fellowship) at the University of Alberta, since 2019. Prior to that, he worked in France for 5 years after completing his residency training and was appointed as the director of the Occupational Disease Center of Brest University Hospital (2018-2019).

He currently practices as an Occupational Medicine Specialist at the Occupational and Environmental Medicine Clinic (Kaye Edmonton Clinic). He is currently co-chair of the International Commission on Occupational Health Scientific Committee on Work, Organizational and Psychosocial factors (ICOH-WOPS), and the ICOH National Secretary for Canada. He is a member of the Council of Scientific Affairs of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) and the French Society for Occupational Health (Société Française de Santé au Travail, SFST). He is the Medical Education representative of the Occupational Medicine Specialists of Canada (OMSOC). His topics of interest and research include Occupational Cancers, Covid work-related issues, and Medical Education. He obtained a masters' degree in education from the University of Montreal in 2023.

Quentin Durand-Moreau currently serves as associate editor of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, and chairs the scientific committee of Archives des maladies professionnelles et de l’environnement.

He is one of the co-recipients of the 2023 ACOEM executive committee outstanding achievement award, as a member of the COGA/CSA Joint Workgroup on Lead.

Research

My research activities are about work-related mental disorders, the impact of Covid-19 for different populations of workers (healthcare workers, funeral service workers, meatpacking industry workers...), occupational cancers and education in Occupational Medicine.

You can find the list of my publications on my Google Scholar Profile, or my ResearchGate profile. I also have a YouTube channel about Occupational Medicine, with some videos about interesting conferences.
