Evan Wiens, MD, MSc, BA, FWS, FRCPC

About

Dr. Evan Wiens is a Critical Care and Nuclear Cardiologist at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute/University of Alberta. He completed concurrent undergraduate degrees in Science and Arts at the University of Manitoba, a Master of Science in Chemistry, as well as Medical School at the University of Manitoba. He then completed Internal Medicine residency in Manitoba, before moving on to Cardiology residency there. He completed the Critical Care Cardiology fellowship at the University of Alberta in 2024.

Dr. Wiens maintains a busy clinical practice in nuclear, general, and critical care cardiology at the University of Alberta, and is also involved in teaching and mentorship with the Adult Cardiology residency program. Academically, he is well-published and active in outcomes research and sits on the editorial board of multiple journals, and is Associate Editor of the Canadian Journal of Cardiology.

Outside of work, Dr. Wiens enjoys spending time with friends and family and is a devoted sports fan, particularly of the Winnipeg Jets. He is also an avid consumer of wine, and is a certified French Wine Scholar.
