About

I am currently professor of medicine and senior attending physician in Respiratory Disease at the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and Alberta Health Services, in Edmonton, Alberta.

I am the director of the Division of Pulmonary Medicine. The Division hosts a wide range of quaternary and tertiary services, from lung transplant to tuberculosis.

I treat most of the respiratory disorders, especially rare and diffuse parenchymal lung diseases, tuberculosis, non-tuberculous mycobacteria-disease, respiratory infections, COPD, asthma and lung cancer.
I am part of the Multidisciplinary ILD Clinic and of the Tuberculosis Program Evaluation and Research Unit.

My main research areas are:
- evaluation and validation of new diagnostics and treatments for active and latent tuberculosis;
- Digitalization and eHealth in pulmonary disease, with focus on interstitial lung disease;
- implementation of disease registries and evaluation of healthcare performance;
- evidence-based evaluation of interventions in respiratory disease.

I am active in several scientific study groups, such as the Cochrane Airways Group of the Cochrane Collaboration.

I teach in graduate and post-graduate courses for medical students and residents in respiratory disease with frontal lessons, practical sessions and seminars.

I am currently the supervisor of one PhD student.
