Personal Statement:
Medicine is a continuous exercise of lifelong learning. I view residents as my peers and fellow learners.
Dr. George Elleker is a neurologist who was recruited from the Montreal Neurological Hospital to the Division of Neurology in 1983.
Leadership and Collaborations:
Dr. Elleker is the chair of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada AFC Accreditation Committee. He is president of the Canadian Neurological Sciences Federation and former co-chair of its Clinical Practice Guidelines Committee. As associate dean for post-graduate medical he served on the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada’s Standing Committee on Postgraduate Education. He was chair of the Medical Staff Advisory Board at the University of Alberta Hospital. In 2009, Dr. Elleker was awarded the Resident Doctors of Canada’s Mikhael Award for Medical Education. He is a member of the Neuroscience and Mental Health Institute.
Clinical Interests
Dr. Elleker is a specialist in neuropathy, epilepsy and seizures. He sees patients at the University of Alberta Hospital.
Teaching
Dr. Elleker is a much-honoured educator who teaches third- and fourth-year medical students and supervises neurology residents.
