About
I am an academic pulmonologist specializing in the care of patients with Cystic Fibrosis (CF). I completed my MD/PhD training at the University of Toronto, residency and fellowship at the University of Alberta and CF training at the University of British Columbia.Clinical Interests
My clinical interests include Cystic Fibrosis and general pulmonary medicine.
Research
CF is an autosomal recessive genetic condition that affects multiple organs in the body, including the lungs and pancreas. Affecting more than 4000 individuals in Canada, CF is often associated with frequent pulmonary exacerbations and development of complications such as CF related diabetes (CFRD), resulting in a significant degree of morbidity and mortality, particularly in women with CF.
My research focus includes:
- CFRD screening and diagnostics
- Sex-disparities in clinical outcomes between women and men with CF
- Infection and inflammatory processes driving recurrent pulmonary exacerbations in CF lung disease
