Research - The Inclusion of Francophone Rights Holders in French Immersion Programs in Edmonton and Area, Alberta REB Pro00122373

2022-11-19 to 2024-11-19

This exploratory research is a pilot project that proposes to examine the inclusion of K-12 Francophone Rights Holders in French immersion programs in Edmonton and Area, Alberta, Canada by better understanding the experiences for education staff in French immersion programs to support the needs of this student population.

French immersion programs are intended to be inclusive, responding to the individual and collective needs of varying student profiles, such as linguistic and academic. There is research related to the  educational needs of Francophone Rights Holders which the Francophone minority setting school  system is specifically adapted to respond to, but not how to better meet those needs and other experiences in other bilingual programs, such as French immersion.

How do the perceptions of education staff (i.e., teachers, administrators, and other system  leaders) regarding the presence and needs of Francophone Rights Holders influence the reception and support of this student population in French immersion programs? Exploring the perceptions of French immersion education personnel of the Francophone Rights Holder clientele will support French immersion programs to better meet their  educational needs.

Recruitment: Teachers, administrators, and other system leaders of French Immersion in Edmonton and Area, Alberta
