About

My first exposure to scientific research was as a summer student at the University of Guelph. I was hooked; however, I went on exchange to Germany in my 3rd year and fell in love with the language and culture. After obtaining my undergraduate degree with Honours in Biochemistry and German Studies at Guelph, I completed a Master of Arts in German Studies at Queen's University. I then returned to scientific research, pursuing a PhD in Molecular Immunology at the Max Planck Institute for Immunobiology and the University of Freiburg in Germany. Returning to Canada, I joined Dr. Armand Keating’s translational laboratory at the Princess Margaret Hospital as a postdoctoral fellow then later continued my research on γδ T cell immunotherapy with Dr. Paula Foster at Robarts Research Institute. I was then hired by Dr. Lynne-Marie Postovit, who subsequently recruited me to the U of A as a Research Associate. I later became an independent scientific consultant, after which I was hired on full time by IN8bio as Senior Scientist/γδ T Cell Specialist. In 2022, I started a new role closer to home as Head of Research & Development for Helix BioPharma.

I am thrilled to now manage the Flow Cytometry Facility here at the U of A! Flow cytometry is my favourite technology, which I used extensively throughout my research career in academia and industry. I also love to teach, having taught students of all ages in many varied settings over the years. I have published several original research articles, reviews and book chapters with international and cross-disciplinary collaborators, and I have given invited talks to lay and scientific audiences at national and international meetings. 

In my spare time, I am pursuing an Executive MBA degree (Quantic School of Business and Technology, Class of February 2026). When not working or studying, I enjoy horseback riding and spending time with friends and family.
