About
I am a professor of communication and sociology at the Department of Communication, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Tehran, Iran. Currently, I am working on social class formation in Iran focussing on the post-1962 land reform period, Historical Sociology, Development issues, Rural Iran, and Social Network Analysis. This has been one of my passions to continue working on issues related to historical sociology. I am also working on social network formation in the Hablerood area, northeast of Tehran.
I have finished my project on textual analysis of media characters. To do such an analysis, I made a selection of texts from a variety of media. I used the texts that were produced by Iranian TV, especially during the 1980s war times. I focused on modes of narrative expressions provided by an on-site soldier during the Iraqi-imposed war on Iran, a war that lasted for eight years between 1980 and 1988. The phenomenological aspects of his expressions were unique and were worth explaining as a media character.
Thanks to CRSC, University of Alberta, I did my sabbatical in Canada which ended in October 2012 and this gave me a unique opportunity to look into such projects from a wider perspective.
I am Back at the University of Alberta and I am working with Professor Rob Sheilds.
I also worked with Professor Rima Wilkes at the University of British Columbia in 2019. Currently, in 2023 and 2024, I am working with Professor Rob Shields at the University of Alberta, Canada.
