About

Following time in the communications engineering industry, Ivan Fair joined the Technical University of Nova Scotia (since amalgamated with Dalhousie University) in 1995, and the University of Alberta in 1998. He served the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering as Associate Chair (Undergraduate) and Associate Chair (Graduate) prior to his appointment as Interim Chair in September 2015 and Department Chair in 2017. He is currently Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.

MINT 702A - Data Communication Protocols

Structure of communication protocols, with an emphasis on the data link layer. SDLC and HDLC. Medium access control techniques. AAA. Local area, metropolitan area and wireless standards: Ethernet, 802.11 and Bluetooth. Offered jointly by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Computing Science.
