About
Dr. Jae-Young Cho is currently working as a Research Officer at National Research Council of CANADA - Quantum & Nanotechnology Research Centre (NRC-QN) and Adjunct Professor, in Dept of Mechanical Engineering, University of Alberta. His area of expertise is nano-characterization using different microscopic/spectroscopic techniques. During his Ph.D. at McGill, he studied the effects of microstructure and texture on the reliability of nano-scaled copper damascene interconnects. Right after receiving his Ph.D., he joined NRC-NANO in 2005 and his main role was to develop new soft nanomaterials characterization methods using cutting-edge microscopic/spectroscopic techniques.
While at NRC-NANO, he has been involved in many different collaborative research projects with universities, companies and different parts of NRCs. He has published over 60 articles in peer reviewed journals, conference proceedings and technical reports. He is a two-time recipient of the Research Excellence Award at NRC-NANO (2019, 2022). He has maintained active collaborations with industrial, government and academic partners, and has supervised Ph.D./co-op students from various universities in CANADA.
His current works focus on developing in-situ characterization methods for nanomaterials, particularly in the areas of soft nanomaterials and he is leading the CCUS (carbon capture utilization and storage) project & cryo-EM group.
