About
Dr. Jenny Souster obtained an MD from the University of Calgary in 2004 and completed her neurosurgical residency in Edmonton in 2011. She was the first woman to complete the neurosurgical residency training program in Edmonton, the program she now serves as the Assistant Program Director. Following residency, she completed a subspecialty fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. She then returned to Edmonton to partner with Dr Vivek Mehta at the Stollery Children's Hospital in 2012. While working within the Division of Neurosurgery, she also completed a Master’s Degree in Education.
Dr. Souster is currently an Associate Clinical Professor of Neurosurgery in the Department of Surgery at the University of Alberta. She is one of three pediatric neurosurgeons at the Stollery Children’s Hospital. Her practice interests span all of pediatric neurosurgery, including pediatric neuro-oncology, congenital malformations, comprehensive neuro-endoscopy, Chiari malformation, craniofacial surgery and hydrocephalus. She also maintains an adult neurosurgical practice, specializing primarily in pituitary surgery and adult hydrocephalus.
