Overview

About

I received my MEd in Educational Policy Studies and BA in Anthropology degrees from the University of Alberta. I was a teaching and research assistant during my years in graduate studies. After graduation I worked for a number of years in the heritage, community services and philanthropic sectors where I honed my skills in project/program design and management, grant writing, funding allocations and community engagement, partnership and collaboration. I joined the Research Services Office in 2003 as a Research Facilitator for the social sciences faculties. I am currently the Research Partner supporting faculty members applying for funding in the community-engaged research area and the key contact for the faculties of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation, School of Public Health and Native Studies.

Research

My master's research was focused on the experience of  immigrant women raising children with disabilities. For one of my graduate courses I researched on the health and well-being of immigrant women and support network. I also did extensive research on the model minority myth surrounding Asian students in North America. In the past decade or more, my research has been on mainly focused on documenting the history and heritage of Edmonton's Chinatown.
