About
Personal Statement:
I am a general internist who has a deep interest in international health and medicine. I have had several opportunities to contribute to medical education oversees and want to ensure such valuable experiences are available to residents and other trainees.
Lindsay Bridgland holds a Master of Science degree in molecular biology and genetics and is a graduate of the University of Alberta’s medical school. She completed an internal medicine residency and fellowship at the University of Alberta and joined the Division of General Internal Medicine (GIM) in 2011.
Dr. Bridgland has garnered numerous awards for clinical and teaching excellence during her training and career.
Leadership and Collaborations:
In 2017, Dr. Bridgland received an Academics Without Borders grant to help develop capacity in internal medicine training at Aga Khan University in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. She is a member of the GIM Education Initiative and GIM Recruitment Committees. She is faculty advisor for the University of Alberta Students’ Internal Medicine Club.
Clinical Interests
Dr. Bridgland is a GIM consultant at the University of Alberta Hospital.
Research
Dr. Bridgland’s broad clinical research interests include patient assessments of blood pressure monitoring and nerve pain associated with hantavirus. She is co-author on publications in journals that include Journal of Clinical Hypertension, Journal of Neurovirology and Human Genetics.
Teaching
Dr. Bridgland is a clinical instructor for medical students and residents. She is active as a reviewer of student and resident abstracts and an examiner for trainees in oral and objective structured clinical examinations. As part of her contribution to medical education in St. Lucia and Tanzania she delivered intensive training in GIM subjects.
