Matt Strickland joined the faculty in 2020 as a member of the Trauma and General Surgery groups, primarily working at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. He obtained a bachelors of electrical engineering from the University of Waterloo before completing his MD at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. His residency in general surgery was at the University of Toronto. He completed clinical fellowships in surgical critical care at the University of Southern California (2019) and an associated trauma surgery fellowship at Los Angeles County Medical Center (LAC+USC) in 2020. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
His clinical interests include resuscitation and care of severely injured polytrauma patients as well as complex abdominal wall reconstruction. His academic interests include injury prevention, trauma education, quality improvement in trauma, and machine vision interfaces
