Overview
About
I am a doctoral nursing candidate at the University of Alberta, where I earned my Master of Nursing (specialty in Aging) and a Graduate-Embedded Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Nursing Education. As a registered nurse, I bring a diverse professional background to my academic pursuits. I currently work as a nurse educator, health equity researcher, and virtual immunization counsellor, with specialized training in motivational interviewing. My clinical experience encompasses a range of settings, including industrial nursing, long-term care, acute mental health and addictions, and the management of sexually-transmitted and blood-borne infections.
Research
My research interests lie at the intersection of public health and social justice, focusing on HPV vaccination, health equity, intersectionality, and the well-being of Black and racialized children. My doctoral research investigates strategies to improve equitable access to HPV vaccination in resource-limited settings, specifically in Ghana. As a trainee in the Applied Immunization Research Program at the Faculty of Nursing, I have actively participated in various immunization research projects. My research experience encompasses all stages of the research process, including protocol development, ethics application, data collection, analysis, and knowledge dissemination. I possess strong skills in qualitative research methodologies and data analysis.
