About

I am an Associate Lecturer in Computing Science at the University of Alberta, where I also completed my PhD in 2024. My research focuses on using machine learning to support mental health and healthy aging. During my doctoral work, I developed methods for extracting acoustic and linguistic biomarkers from speech to better understand depression, anxiety, and stress. I am interested in speech and language processing, computational biomarkers, and applying AI in healthcare in a responsible and culturally sensitive way.

At the College of Natural and Applied Sciences (CNAS), I contribute to curriculum development and support students in data science and AI courses. I focus on providing practical, hands-on experiences to help students understand and apply technical concepts.

Through my research and teaching, I hope to make a meaningful contribution to both academic knowledge and real-world applications of AI, particularly in supporting mental and cognitive wellbeing.
