About
Michele Fleiger BFA/MFA works to assist the full potential of the voice and body in collaborative creative work whether in devised theatre, solo performance or expressive communicative practice as it applies to creative contexts as well as those contexts that reach beyond theatrical performance.She has devised workshops that encourage an embrace of personal narratives that ground all meaningful connection, a critical aspect of communication.
Michele has a keen interest and considerable experience working with international undergraduate and graduate students in the fields of the arts, science, medicine, economics, political science and business. She has devised and facilitated a number of workshops for the International Student Centre, the Department of Science,collaborated with the Arts and Humanities in Health and Medicine program, and currently the Foundations program at the U of A as well as entities outside the institution such as Alberta Innovates and Alberta Health Services.Michele is also a passionate advocate for the OnCampus program- a program dedicated to providing opportunities for people with various developmental challenges to take classes at the U of A believing wholeheartedly in the power of inclusion for all members of the classroom. She has also worked with the Citadel Theatre, Free Will Festival, Red Deer College and Theatre Alberta.
Michele’s training as an actor and singer led her to stages across this country from Newfoundland to the Yukon, the US, Italy and Japan. She has been a frequent Edmonton Fringe Festival participant, received a Sterling award for Best Performance by an Actress and has been the member of several award winning ensembles.Michele’s creative practice has focused on new work in various stages of development.

DRAMA 240 - Voice for Performance
Vocal technique and speech for rehearsal and performance. Prerequisite: one of DRAMA 102 or 103; and one of 149 or 150; or consent of Department. Note: Restricted to BA Drama Majors, BA (Honors) Drama students, and BEd (Secondary) Drama Majors.
DRAMA 247 - Speaking in Public: Presentation and Presence
Practice-based development of the skills required to create dynamic and engaging presentations in a variety of formats. Note: Not to be taken by BA Drama majors, BA (Honors) Drama students, or BEd (Secondary) Drama Majors.
DRAMA 257 - Scene Study I
Study of acting, including the analysis and enactment of scripted scenes, and characterization. Prerequisites: one of DRAMA 102 or 103 and one of 149 or 150; or consent of Department. Note: Priority will be given to BA Drama Majors, BA (Honors) Drama students, and BEd (Secondary) Drama Majors and Minors. Not to be taken by students with credit in DRAMA 353.
DRAMA 452 - Solo Performance
Advanced theatrical tools to create and present original solo performance. Prerequisite: DRAMA 257 and 259, or consent of Department.
