About

Dr. Varughese is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences and a Senior Principal Mathematical Modeler at the Institute of Health Economics. She has previously worked for the Public Health Agency of Canada and the Alberta Ministry of Health. In her role, as a Senior Epidemiologist and Modeler at the Alberta Ministry of Health, she collaboratively led influenza and COVID-19 modelling efforts at Alberta Health, conducted population level analysis of large administrative databases, and managed the administration of the Alberta Community Health Survey.

Her research areas includes mathematical modelling of infectious diseases that helps support decision-making, epidemiology, public health, health equity, and health economic evaluations of public health questions. Her interests include integrating and intersecting diverse methodologies and leveraging interdisciplinary perspectives to help answer complex public health questions. Her work involves engaging with multiple sectors and bridging the gap between research and practice, aiming to generate valuable insights for multiple stakeholders.

Courses
