A non-intensive introduction to Mandarin Chinese. Note: Not open to students with matriculation in Chinese, i.e., CHINA 30 or equivalent.

CHINA 341 - Classical Chinese I
An introduction to the syntax and semantic structures of classical Chinese. Prerequisite: CHINA 202 or consent of Department.
EASIA 237 - Reinventing Culture in East Asia
Adaptation, reinvention, and scholarly analysis of premodern East Asian art, literature, and performance.
EASIA 345 - Literature and the Environment in Premodern China
Environmental history and representations of nature and the environment in premodern Chinese literature. Prerequisites: EASIA 101 or 3 units in EASIA at the senior level, or consent of the department.
EASIA 599 - Directed Reading in East Asian Studies
May be repeated for credit when course content differs. Prerequisite: Consent of Department.
HIST 280 - East Asia to 1500
Survey of history of East Asia (China, Korea, Japan, Vietnam) to 1500.
HIST 383 - The Civilization and Culture of Early China
This course focuses on the formative periods of Chinese civilization from prehistory to circa 600.
