Research

Major Responsibilities/Research Interests: My research interests are in carbon & nitrogen transformations in soil; simulation modeling of C and N cycling; role of microflora and fauna in decomposition, nutrient cycling, soil structure formation, and onsite wastewater sewage treatment systems.

Teaching

Major Responsibilities/Teaching & Global Education Interests: My teaching interests are in Soil Microbiology, Soil Biochemistry, Soil Ecology, General Soil Science, Soil Remediation, Soil Fertility and Environmentally Sustainable Agriculture. In order to position Soil Science in the context of Earth System Science, I have launched 'The Pedosphere and Its Dynamics: A Systems Approach to Soil Science' series with the publication of Volume 1 titled 'Introduction to Soil Science and Soil Resources' in print and online. This textbook also has web-based interactivity for enhanced teaching and learning. These resources are being used by a wide variety of publics: Students (K-12), teachers, undergraduate students, professors, professionals and the public at large, who are interested in Agriculture, Forestry, Ecosystem Science, Environmental Science and Earth System Science. These activities have transformed me into a global educator.
