About
Nicole Kain is Director of Analytics, Innovation & Research (AIR) at the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta and a Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Medicine at the University of Alberta. Her work focuses on using research, data analytics, and innovation to strengthen health profession regulation and improve physician performance, healthcare quality, and patient safety. She collaborates with researchers, clinicians, regulators, and health system partners across Canada to advance evidence-informed policy and practice.
Research
Dr. Kain's research examines physician performance, health professions regulation, healthcare quality, prescribing practices, and learning health systems. Her work applies mixed methods, implementation science, and advanced analytics to improve healthcare quality and support evidence-informed decision-making. She also has growing research interests in the application of artificial intelligence to health system improvement and professional regulation.
