Overview
About
I am currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at Dr. Dawei Zhang's Lab, Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. My studies focus on the translational investigation of plant bioactive compounds in chronic disease conditions. I demonstrate a broad expertise in the use of various cell lines, animal models, and in randomized controlled clinical trials. From the elucidation of potential druggable targets to the demonstration of preclinical and clinical efficacy of promising bioactive compounds, my studies aim to find cost-effective treatments for diabetes and lipid-related disorders.
I am a recipient of the 2022/2023 Mitacs Accelerate Postdoctoral Fellowship Award, as well as a recipient of the 2024 CIHR Postdoctoral Fellowship Award and the 2025/2026 Heart and Stroke Foundation Postdoctoral Award (declined in favor of the CIHR award). I equally hold a Medstar Award from the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, U of A, and the 2025 Department of Pediatrics, U of A Open Access Funding Award.
