About

Dr. Paulin in a general pathologist at the Red Deer Regional Hospital and appointed as a Clinical Lecturer in the Department for Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the University of Alberta. Her practice includes surgical pathology, hematopathology and transfusion medicine, administration and some biochemistry. She is the Director of Transfusion Medicine for Central Zone, Alberta Health Services (AHS).

In addition to her clinical duties, Dr. Paulin is involved in a number of local and provincial committees related to laboratory medicine, including the AHS Transfusion Network, AHS Toxicology Network, AHS Provincial Laboratory Utilization Steering Committee and the AHS Data Integrity Group. Outside of AHS, she sits on the Royal College Specialty Committee for General Pathology, and is the past-Chair of the Section of General Pathology for the Canadian Association of Pathologists (CAP-ACP).

Dr. Paulin obtained her MD from the University of Toronto and did her residency training in General Pathology at Dalhousie University, in Halifax. Her major interests include general laboratory medicine, improved lab utilization and administration and policy work.


Teaching

Dr. Paulin's teaching generally focuses around surgical and hematopathology/transfusion medicine. She is involved in teaching residents, medical laboratory staff and colleagues. 

She is currently a member of the Royal College Specialty Committee in General Pathology Competence by Design Committee, working to re-organize the General Pathology curriculum for Canadian General Pathology residency programs.
