Jaye Platnich, MD, PhD, FRCPC

About

Dr. Jaye Platnich is currently a Clinical Lecturer and General Nephrologist in the Division of Nephrology at the University of Alberta. He completed his B.Sc. in Cellular, Molecular, and Microbial Biology with Distinction at the University of Calgary in 2012 and went on to pursue an MD and PhD (in Immunology) at the University of Calgary, completing both in 2019. He finished his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Alberta in 2022 and subsequently completed his fellowship in Nephrology at the University of Alberta in 2024.

Dr. Platnich has a passion for medical education both in didactic and small group settings and recently presented 5 hours of lectures to the medical students as part of their core renal block. He has a clinical interest in electrolyte and acid-base disorders and hopes to start a Fluid and Electrolyte Disorder clinic in future.

Dr. Platnich has recently been appointed Associate Program Director for Academic Advisors for the Core Internal Medicine Program at the University of Alberta.
