About

Dr. Rhodri Smith is a Nuclear Medicine Physicist in Diagnostic Imaging (Alberta Health Services) and an Associate Professor in Radiology & Diagnostic Imaging at the University of Alberta. Clinically trained in the UK, he holds a PhD in medical imaging (Electronic Engineering).  He has led PET Physics and Nuclear Medicine Physics services and clinically, he remains active in governance and advancing best practice in nuclear medicine physics.



Research

His research spans image processing and quantification, enhancement and modelling, with a focus on advanced AI for improved disease detection, image interpretation, and outcome prediction.  He welcomes students interested in medical imaging and AI and nuclear medicine physics.
