Interests

Artificial intelligence for the game of curling, heuristic (single-agent) search.

Summary

My research on heuristic search investigates automatic techniques for speeding up search, such as the automatic creation of search heuristics and the compilation of search problem definitions into highly efficient C code. My research on A.I. for curling focuses primarily on the strategic aspect of the game. As in any game, A.I. should be able to make shot selections that maximize the probability of winning the game. Technically, the main challenge in curling is that its state and action spaces are continuous.
