Overview
Research
Reza Jafari (Member, IEEE) received the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Software Engineering from the University of Calgary, Calgary, AB, Canada, in 2025, and the M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Isfahan University of Technology, Isfahan, Iran, in 2018. His research interests include optimization, resource allocation, and artificial intelligence methodologies for next-generation wireless communication systems. He specifically focuses on applying deep reinforcement learning integrated with convex optimization and heuristic algorithms to enable real-time decision-making. His technical contributions encompass full-duplex wireless-powered communication networks (WPCNs), ambient and backscatter IoT communications, intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRS), and cluster-based multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) with power-domain non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA). Dr. Jafari’s research addresses critical challenges such as latency minimization, enhanced energy efficiency, and maximized throughput in beyond-6G wireless network scenarios. His current research focuses on unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-assisted communications and orthogonal time frequency space (OTFS) modulation for high-mobility and energy-constrained environments.
