About

<p>Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine University of Alberta Dr Kearney completed her undergraduate education at Memorial University of Newfoundland and her residency in Anesthesia at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Following a fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesia at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York, she returned to Canada and in 1992 joined the University of Alberta. She assumed the position of Program Director for the residency program in 1994. Since then she has chaired the Royal College examination committee in anesthesiology and served on the College's evaluation committee. She obtained a Master's degree medical education with a focus on professionalism in anesthesiology as her thesis. She led the faculty development initiative in problem based learning for the undergraduate program at the U of A and returned to the position of program director for several years prior to being chosen for her current role - associate dean for postgraduate education.<br /></p>
