About

Marcus is an applied public health researcher, registered psychiatric nurse, and a Master of Science student in the University of Alberta’s School of Public Health, Health Policy Research stream. 

With a broad range of experience in public, private, as well as community-based NPOs and NGOs throughout rural and urban international settings, Marcus’ expertise spans rural and urban mental health, communicable infections, criminal justice and drug policy reform, intergovernmental policy development, community-based collaboration, program implementation and evaluation, and a variety of research methodologies. He is a passionate advocate for underserved and marginalized populations, enjoys traveling, volunteering and creative arts, and lives by a philosophy of curiosity, collaboration, and courageous action.  


Research

Marcus is a Research Assistant with the Department of Emergency Medicine and Inner City Health and Wellness Program. His research focuses on improving health care access and outcomes for people who use substances and other marginalized populations.
