About
Dr. Saifal Anwar, MD, FRCPC, DABOM, DABLM, is a General Internal Medicine specialist and Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Alberta in the Department of Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry. He is board-certified in obesity medicine and lifestyle medicine, with a focused clinical practice in obesity, lifestyle medicine, and cardiometabolic health.
Dr. Anwar provides comprehensive, evidence-based care for people living with obesity, type 2 diabetes, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), dyslipidemia, hypertension, and metabolic syndrome. His approach integrates nutrition, physical activity, behavioural interventions, pharmacotherapy, and multidisciplinary care. He practises at Vibe Medical Specialists and the Royal Alexandra Hospital Adult Bariatric Clinic in Edmonton.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Anwar is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, continuing professional development, and clinical leadership. He is committed to advancing practical education in obesity and lifestyle medicine and to integrating evidence-based metabolic care into internal medicine and everyday clinical practice.
