Chafe has specialized in Pediatric Radiation Oncology and Breast Oncology. She is Chair of the Quality Assurance Subcommittee with the Children’s Oncology Group. She is a member of the International Paediatric Radiation Oncology Society.
 
Chafe is an expert in Partial Breast Irradiation.
 
Chafe is the Prairie Representative with the Canadian Association of Radiation Oncology. She is a Councillor with the Canadian Medical Protective Association, she is a Member of the Research Ethics Board at the Cross Cancer Institute, and teaches Medical Ethics.

She is currently the Physician Representative with the School of Radiation Therapy at the Cross Cancer Institute. She is actively involved in many clinical research activities at the Cross Cancer Institute.
