About
Dr. Timothy Cooper is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Alberta. Dr. Cooper completed medical school at the University of Alberta in 2012. He then entered residency training in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Alberta, graduating in 2017. Following residency training, he pursued further sub-specialty training in otology, neurotology, and lateral skull base surgery. He completed a 2-year ACGME accredited Neurotology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2019. Dr. Cooper also obtained a Master of Applied Science degree in Patient Safety and Healthcare Quality from the Bloomberg School of Public Health and Johns Hopkins University in 2020. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
Clinical Interests
Dr. Cooper’s clinical practice focuses on otology and neurotology. He treats patients with a variety of otologic and neurotologic conditions including hearing loss, chronic ear disease and cholesteatoma, lateral skull base disorders, facial nerve disorders, and vestibular disorders.
Research
Dr. Cooper’s research interests include hearing loss, temporal bone imaging, sudden sensorineural hearing loss, bone conduction implants, cochlear implants, spontaneous cerebrospinal fluid leaks, and patient safety and healthcare quality
