Research
My research focuses on advancing equitable, family-centred care for hospitalized children, with a particular emphasis on pediatric hospital medicine and children with medical complexity. Using mixed-methods and participatory approaches, I study how health system structures, clinical practices, and provider assumptions shape the experiences and outcomes of structurally marginalized children and families.
A central theme of my work is health equity, including the ethical and practical use of sociodemographic data, language-concordant care for families who use languages other than English, and strategies to reduce administrative burden and improve care coordination. I also examine how trust, bias, and the clinical learning environment influence care delivery, with the goal of informing policy, education, and system-level change. Across projects, I partner closely with patients, families, clinicians, and health system leaders to co-design solutions that improve hospital experiences and outcomes for children with complex health needs.
