About
Dr. Mehta completed medical school at Queen’s University in 1992. He went on to complete a rotating internship at the Ottawa Civic Hospital and a neurosurgical residency at Dalhousie University. He pursued further clinical fellowship training at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital as well as a Master of Science in Epidemiology at Harvard University.
Dr. Mehta was an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at Dalhousie University and for the last 18 years has been a pediatric and adult neurosurgeon at the University of Alberta. He currently is a Clinical Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Alberta with clinical interest in pediatric neurosurgery and neuro-oncology.
Dr. Mehta has been the Neurosurgical Residency Program Director, member of the Royal College Neurosurgical Exam Committee and currently serves as the Specialty Chair of Neurosurgery at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Dr. Mehta has authored over 50 peer reviewed publications and is the co-founder of Neurosurgery Kids Fund which in collaboration with the Stollery Children’s Foundation has raised over a million dollars to improve the care and journey of children and families that have undergone neurosurgical intervention.
