About

Christian Pak (MA, Hong Kong, 2022) is a postgraduate at the Department of East Asian Studies of the University of Alberta. His main research interest lies in mediaeval Chinese literature, history, and culture. His subsidiary research interest is classical Chinese fiction. 

He is also appointed to the position of Project Coordinator for the Consortium for Distributed and Passive Sensing of the Department of Physics, where his responsibilities include assistance in project administrative duties, project deliverables, events, and ongoing strategic work within the Consortium.

Research

My thesis juxtaposes the poetry of Chen Zi'ang (fl. ca. 658–699), an Early Tang poet, with Taoism. By employing hermeneutics, this study contends that Taoism exerted a pivotal influence on the formation and expression of Chen's poetic works.
