Rock Mechanics Rock Dynamics Risk Assessment

About

Zheng is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Mining Engineering under the supervision of Dr. Derek Apel.

Education:

MEng, Resource and Environmental Engineering, Central South University, China, 2025

BEng, Safety Eningeering, Shandong University of Science and Technology, China, 2022

Research

Current research focus on rock dynamics and developing shear-thickening fluid based blasting stemming.

Zheng's esearch interests focus on rock mechanics and mining engineering, with particular emphasis on rockburst risk assessment and control, as well as microdefect and damage characterization in hard rocks. He has experience in laboratory rock mechanics testing, microseismic signal analysis, CT images processing, combined with numerical simulation applied to rockburst proneness evalution, rockburst failure mechanism, stope design optimization, and ground subsidence analysis.
