Description

Description of Study: The successful post-doctoral fellow (PDF) applicant will contribute meaningfully to ongoing and new studies related to managing pediatric obesity. Relevant topics include (1) child and family attrition from obesity management interventions and (2) implementing and evaluating Canada’s clinical practice guideline for managing pediatric obesity. Along with gaining content experience in this area of child health, the successful PDF applicant will acquire skill and experience in scientific writing, with an emphasis on grantsmanship and manuscript preparation.

Location: Employment will be hybrid, with in-person at the Edmonton Clinic Health Academy, North Campus.

Duties and Responsibilities: The main responsibilities of the PDF will be completed in partnership with the Principal Investigator.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in Nutrition, Kinesiology, Psychology, Public Health or related discipline with a focus in a health-related area or other equivalent preparation.
  • Proven accomplishments in obesity, nutrition, or relevant child health-related discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 years of research experience; clinical and health services research experience is an asset. Preference will be given to those with experience in conducting research with humans.
  • Demonstrated experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods preferred, including data analysis and interpretation.
  • Ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a research team, utilizing problem-solving and consultation skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written science communication skills for effective writing (grants, manuscripts) and presenting research findings to diverse groups (researchers, health care professionals).
  • Supervisory experience is an asset.

Salary: This is a full-time, grant-funded position for a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal. The salary begins at $50,000/annum + benefits and is commensurate with experience and qualifications. An overview of the benefits can be viewed here.
