The School of Public Health, at the University of Alberta (https://www.ualberta.ca/public-health/index.html) invites applicants for the position of a contingent tenure-track assistant or associate professor in injury prevention, with preferred emphasis on epidemiological research. This position is embedded in the Injury Prevention Centre (https://www.ualberta.ca/public-health/research/centres/injury-prevention-centre.html).
Operating since 1998, the Injury Prevention Centre (IPC) is the oldest injury prevention centre in Canada. The IPC addresses the major causes of unintentional injury mortality and morbidity in Alberta such as falls and poisonings as well as emerging issues such as E-scooters and concussions. The IPC has built national and international networks that enhance its access to evidence on what works in prevention and facilitate the identification of new injury issues as they emerge. Candidates must have a doctoral degree (PhD) and established scholarship in the area of injury epidemiology. It is expected the successful candidate will have a leadership role within IPC as Scientific Director. The successful candidate will have an established record of accomplishment, including relevant postdoctoral training, publication of primary research articles in relevant peer-reviewed journals, success in gaining competitive external awards at the national or international level, experience in classroom teaching and the ability to mentor research trainees effectively.

In addition to these centres, the School of Public Health hosts multiple research groups. SPH offers a range of graduate programs, including a course-based Master of Public Health (MPH), an MA in Community Engagement (both course-based and thesis-based), and thesis-based programs (MSc and PhD). These programs are supported by a dedicated faculty of 30 members and serve approximately 350 graduate students.
SPH is among the top 5 research-intensive faculties in the University of Alberta.
